October is here, bringing mystery, fun, and the start of Q4. For us in Puerto Rico, the year feels almost over as we begin gearing up for the holidays. Soon, we'll be putting up our festive decorations, which often stay in our homes well into January, and sometimes even February! Supply Chain Mapping Workshop

I’ll be leading a Supply Chain Mapping Workshop on October 24th for all participants of the Project Makers program. While it’s not open to the public, let me know if you or anyone you know might be interested. The workshop I created is a practical toolkit for businesses to map and better understand their value chains while identifying opportunities to localize their supply chains for greater sustainability and circularity.

Matilsha Marxuach: Concalma

I’ve known Matilsha for over 15 years, and I’m proud to call her a valued colleague and dear friend. I deeply admire her as a designer, businesswoman, and person, as well as a true entrepreneur who cleared a path for so many of us to follow. She was the one who first opened the doors of retail to me back when I was a full-time fashion designer, and she did the same for many others who now enjoy long-lasting careers. Most of us got our start at her store, Concalma, in Old San Juan. Beyond that, she has been a pioneer in local fair trade manufacturing, working with an all-women sewing co-op (one of only two remaining on the island) to produce Concalma’s iconic bags from day one. Matilsha has also been a mentor, teacher, and a living testament to the power of determination in making things happen in Puerto Rico. Go get your Concalma bag here.
