Our Cupey Hats made by Isaac Laboy will be exhibited along the works of many talented Puerto Rican artists, such as my dear friend Alejandro Epifanio. There is a reception June 21st come say hi!
Through the lens of expressive culture, our exhibit tells the story of the Puerto Rican diaspora to New York City during the 20th century and into the 21st. Nuyoricans may celebrate Three King’s Day differently and wear vejigante masks for the Puerto Rican Parade instead of Carnival, but they are still Puerto Rican – and would be – “Even if born on the moon”. Featuring traditional artists: Auralis Herrero-Lugo, Isaac Laboy, Felipe Rangel, Marta Iris Rodríguez, Ramonita Ramos Zavala, and George Zavala. Curated by Elena Martínez. The exhibition includes contemporary paintings inspired by the theme of migration by artists: Luis Carle, Ana Cristina Collazo, Maria Dominguez, Alejandro Epifanio, and Frances Gallardo.
